I was so looking forward to reading this book after the way Mr President ended. I loved the scandal that Matthew and Charlotte created. Commander in Chief was just as engaging as the first book though it did seem a bit rushed. There’s a lot of depth towards the beginning of the book when Matthew officially becomes President but then the pace picks up as the author tries to squeeze in the whole 4 year term. We lost a good bit of that depth as the story progresses. Aside from that, the connection between Matthew and Charlotte is just as intense as when we first met the couple in book one. I love the way that Matthew did everything in his power to make sure that Charlotte never felt like she was an afterthought. Though time did pass very quickly in the book, I did like the glimpses that we get of these two as they grew in their relationship together while Matt continued to fight for the change that he so desperately wanted for his country.
