First of all, the prologue had me freaking speechless! From there, I knew Kate Stewart was about to tear up my emotions and I was right. As I continue to read books by Kate Stewart, I can see the growth in her writing. Each one has gotten better and they’re so easily relatable that I can honestly say that she’s become one of my favorite authors. Someone Else’s Ocean broke my heart and put it back together. I’ve never connected more with a story than I have this one. I could relate so easily with Koti but especially with Ella and what she struggled with towards at the end of the book. It broke my heart for her because I understood the feelings that she felt but the way Ian expressed himself to her was just everything! I loved that Koti wasn’t perfect. Yes, she’s beautiful but she struggles with something that so many of us, myself included, struggles with on almost a daily basis. My heart ached for Ian from the very beginning so I couldn’t even be mad at him for the way things went with him and Koti. I felt like he handled it well considering the hurt he was dealing with though I’m glad he got a dose of reality and was able to attempt to make things right after he pulled away. Someone Else’s Ocean is the cutest of love stories even if it is highly emotional. I loved everything about it.
A Texas native, Kate Stewart lives in North Carolina with her husband, Nick, and her naughty beagle, Sadie. She pens messy, sexy, angst-filled contemporary romance as well as romantic comedy and erotic suspense because it’s what she loves as a reader. Kate is a lover of all things ’80s and ’90s, especially John Hughes films and rap. She dabbles a little in photography, can knit a simple stitch scarf for necessity, and on occasion, does very well at whiskey.
