The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.
We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.
Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever.
There once was a boy, and I loved him.
And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.
The Fire Between High and Lo is one of those stories that takes ahold of you and doesn’t let go. This book is addicting, heartwrenching and dark. The struggles Logan went through with not only his inner demons but his family broke my heart. Yet his words and the love he felt for Kellan and Alyssa took my breath away. “You’re still the air in my lungs. You’re still my greatest high.” He’s so broken yet that’s what makes him so perfect. Alyssa, though a little naive, just had a really good heart. Her resiliency in being there for those she loves no matter how hard they try to push her away spoke volumes. Even through the emotional abuse she received, she still loved hard.
My heart ached reading this book. What Logan and Alyssa went through with their parents pissed me off but the way they found solace in each other brought tears to my eyes. They’re relationship is quirky yet fun and truly was the light in their darkness. The emotions that Brittainy emits through her writing is astounding. You’d be crazy to pass this one up.
