After reading the synopsis, I couldn’t wait to read this book. It wasn’t what I expected but not completely in a bad way. The content and story-line were really good. I felt that it was unique and had a lot of potential. There were plenty of plot twists and enough angst to keep you reading. I liked the characters as a whole. The instant need that Jordan felt to protect Lucy, not knowing what kind of danger helping her would put him in, was really sweet. Lucy being a fighter and doing what she could to survive was admirable. On one hand, I feel like Alexis portrayed Lucy’s POV really well through her writing, based on what we know of her background. After what Lucy went through with her “family” it would be hard to just be able to embrace a life that she wasn’t used to but at the same time I wasn’t really able to feel the connection between her and Jordan. I hated everything that happened to Lucy on a personal level but unfortunately as a whole the love between them just wasn’t believable. The story takes place over a span of four years, so aside from a few glimpses here and there of what happened in the time in between, I didn’t really get the chance to connect with them as a unit instead of individually.
