Ciro Donati was many things: My fatherās most valued and trusted soldier. My brotherās best friend and second in command. And the only man I would give up everything for.
I fell hard for the Mafioso at the tender age of eleven. This beast of a man who I knew made people disappearāand probably enjoyed every second of itāwas also the sixteen-year-old boy who had picked me up after Iād fallen flat on my face during my dance recital and told me I was the best ballerina heād ever seen. Heās watched over me, protected me like I was the most precious thing in the world to him.
And then he sent me away.
Scarlett Vitucci was many things: The daughter of the biggest Cosa Nostra boss from New York to Chicago. The sister of the man I would gladly take a bullet for. And the only woman I would ever love.
Sending her away was the hardest thing Iāve ever done, but I didnāt deserve her or her love. For three years I stayed away, ignoring the gnawing ache that her absence left in my chest. Now, she was back and fighting what I felt for her was impossible. Letting her go had been a huge mistake.
One I would never repeat.

I really enjoyed this book! This was my first time reading Terri Anne Browning and I was not disappointed. Ciro and Scarlett are hot together. I love how broody Ciro is though I did want to shake some sense into him at times. Scarlett is feisty but thereās no denying the love she has for her family or Ciro for that matter. She very much reminded me of myself when she went into āmother henā mode when it came to her sister. I loved the plot and I could really connect with the characters. I only wish that there was a bit more depth when it came to the obstacles they faced. I feel like these parts in particular were a little rushed. Aside from that I look forward to reading more books from this author.
